A meta-leader is a leader of leaders, who mobilizes people and organizations to collaborate in times of crisis.

When disaster strikes, meta-leaders reach across organizations and sectors to build cross-cutting strategies to protect the safety of their families, businesses and communities. They exchange information, share resources and coordinate systems and personnel. They use their influence and connections to guide a cooperative course of action.

Being a meta-leader requires a unique mindset and skill set, which often goes beyond the scope of an individual's previous experiences. And it requires building strong alliances with a diverse array of leaders before an event occurs.

The Meta-Leadership Summit for Preparedness cultivates the critical problem-solving skills and connectivity

that leaders need to be effective meta-leaders during times of crisis.

The Meta-Leadership Summit for
Preparedness is a learning and networking opportunity designed to prepare business, government and nonprofit leaders to act together in times of crisis. When you participate in a Meta-Leadership Summit, you will gain effective problem-solving skills and build connections with other leaders who may be critical to you and your organization in a disaster.

Through the dynamic curriculum, designed by Harvard University faculty, you will:

• learn behaviors and tools needed for effective disaster planning and response
• develop links with other leaders and organizations to promote collaborative strategies for responding to emergency events
• begin to address real preparedness issues threatening your state or community.

The summits are designed for leaders of business, government and nonprofit organizations who are directly involved in preparing for and responding to emergencies.
